Title: Volunteer/Marketing Coordinator
Supervisor: Executive Director

Overview: Youth Employment Service’s Volunteer/Marketing Coordinator drives the YES mission forward by recruiting and retaining volunteers and managing the YES marketing strategy. Volunteers play a key role in almost every aspect of the YES program including facilitating workshops that prepare YES clients with the skills and resources they need to obtain and keep a good job. Creating a great image and brand are extremely important while recruiting new volunteers and in continuing to expand. The Volunteer/Marketing Coordinator oversees and maintains a software system to manage the profiles, needs, and schedules of all volunteers in addition to maintaining a sufficient marketing strategy. The primary role of this position is to recruit, place, train, evaluate, cultivate, and recognize the volunteers and interns who invest their time to effectively equip the youth YES serves and to boost awareness in the community.

Job Responsibilities:

Volunteer Management

  • Lead the volunteer and intern recruitment, screening, orientation, and training process in accordance with current and future organizational needs
  • Build relationships with corporations and corporate groups to actively recruit volunteers for single day team projects and individual volunteer opportunities
  • Assess current and future volunteer needs and proactively recruit qualified individuals to fill new volunteer roles to effectively support the organization.
  • Maintain momentum and engagement of volunteers by creating an efficient communication strategy with current and past volunteers on a regular basis via email, mail, or phone to stay connected
  • Research and implement effective volunteer management processes and procedures to orient, train, place, supervise, and evaluate volunteers
  • Ensure volunteer schedule is accurate, updated daily and accessible to necessary staff members
  • Manage and compile monthly volunteer statistics (i.e. volunteer hours)
  • Manage volunteer personnel files and input information in to database software
  • Create and update volunteer handbooks, descriptions of volunteer positions, and other related policies and procedures
  • Support the coordination, plan creation, and implementation of comprehensive recognition programs for volunteers; not limited to at least one annual event per year, volunteer of the month, birthday notices, emails and phones calls
  • Identify, cultivate, and recruit corporate relationships with the goal of converting them to donors

Marketing and Outreach

  • Coordinate various integrated communication and marketing activities to support YES outreach and program specialists
  • Market volunteer opportunities through networking, corporate/community outreach, online resource postings and community speaking events
  • Represent YES in the community to create a highly visible presence for the organization
  • Create and edit content for website and social media (FB, IG, Linkedin, Snapchat, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, YES marketing committee, YES intern, and website volunteer to work on projects to maintain branding and strategy
  • Work with Executive Director to develop quarterly newsletter content
  • Expand upon existing style guide to develop a sustainable brand strategy
  • Create a social media plan to target volunteers, clients, and donors
  • Coordinate and maintain YES marketing collateral
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree preferred
  • At least two years’ experience conducting multifaceted outreach/recruitment with proven results
  • Experience coordinating/managing volunteers
  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License, proof of automobile insurance, and a clean driving record
  • Pass a full background check

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills, including copywriting and public speaking experience
  • Ability to communicate and relate to a broad cross-section of people
  • Computer skills using MS Office Suite, including Publisher, Adobe Acrobat, Constant Contact, and Canva
  • Superior organization, time management, and project management skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently
  • Forward thinking for planning purposes, and to actively seek out opportunities and propose solutions
  • Self-motivated and resourceful, with flexibility to make smooth transitions as you prioritize
  • Flexibility in work assignments and hours (some weekends and evenings)
  • Ability to travel off-site when needed to coordinate volunteers, meet with corporations, etc.

Schedule:

  • 40 hours per week; usually Monday – Friday
  • Schedule may vary with some evening and weekends required
  • Closed on major holidays

Compensation:

  • Salary commensurate with experience
  • Non-Exempt/Full-Time Position
